Join National Park Service (NPS) Rangers and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy educators for a look into the many buildings and landscapes that make up Jacob Riis Park, part of Gateway National Recreation Area. Also known as the “people’s beach”, seaside destination Jacob Riis Park has served as a welcome respite from urban life for millions of New Yorkers and visitors since 1912. Learn how the park and its historic buildings have collectively served as an urban recreation center for nearly a century and examine the famous Art Deco Bathhouse and Wise Clock. Finally, finish your experience with continued discussion with NPS Rangers at a campfire on the beach!
NPS Rangers will lead tours at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm on Saturday. Capacity is limited to 20 visitors per tour, offered on a walk-up, first-come, first-served basis. Meet at the Wise Clock for tours and information.
