Join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, Bloomberg LP, American Littoral Society, Jamaica Bay Ecowatchers, and National Park Service - Gateway National Recreation Area for a planting at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will plant native plants as a part of the Living Shoreline restoration project at West Pond.
The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, a part of Gateway National Recreation Area, includes over 12,600 acres of water, salt marsh, freshwater, and brackish water ponds, upland fields and woods, and open bay and islands. It is one of the largest bird habitats in the northeastern United States and is a great place to observe the seasonal bird migration as well as resident species.
