Join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy for a sunset kayak tour exploring Jamaica Bay’s Subway Island.
We will depart from the Community Boat House launch at B 88th St., and paddle across the channel to the southern tip of Subway Island, located south of Broad Channel island. We’ll disembark and explore the shoreline salt marsh, hosting critical habitat for many iconic bird species, such as egrets, herons, gulls and ibises. We’ll enjoy the setting sun and views as we paddle under the A train trestle to the western edge of the island, traveling along the shoreline of Brant Point Wildlife Sanctuary, and taking in sweeping views of the Bay. We’ll end our tour as the sun is dipping below the horizon, landing back at the Community Boat House. Kayaks, paddles and PFD’s are generously provided free of charge by the Community Boat House.
Spots for this tour are limited so please only register if you are able to attend!
