The Sanitation Museum Pop-up at Floyd Bennett Field is now on display outside the Ryan Visitor Center along Flatbush Avenue. A partnership between Gateway National Recreation Area, JBRPC, Sanitation Foundation, Photoville, and local author Miriam Sicherman, the pop-up celebrates sanitation in NYC through three themes: the bustling working-class community of Barren Island, the ongoing contributions of the Department of Sanitation, and the past and future of Jamaica Bay’s sanitary landfills. The exhibit will be on display through early September.
In addition to the photo exhibits, our public opening event on June 25th will feature refreshments, public remarks, and a DSNY touch-a-truck event for children and adults.
