Discover Jamaica Bay Tour Series: Bike Shirley Chisholm State Park

Bike and explore Brooklyn’s newest and largest state park, Shirley Chisholm State Park (SCSP), part of Gateway National Recreation Area, encompassing 407 acres of parkland and offering 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. Join Leslie Wright, NYC Regional Director for New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and learn about the former Penn and Fountain landfills that make up the park. On the bike ride, you'll see the park’s recreational amenities, and discover the natural areas that local flora and fauna call home.

Bring your own bike or borrow one from the SCSP Bike Library! One of the first free bike share programs in the country, Bike New York's Bike Library offers helmets and recycled bikes for use in SCSP for free. Bikes from the Bike Library will be available for the tour and will require pre-registration.

Spots are limited due to safety guidelines related to COVID-19. Please follow local, state, and federal guidance related to COVID-19 when planning your trip to the event.
