Visit the historic Floyd Bennett Field airfield and witness a hidden gem of native representatives of the historic Northeast coastal relic maritime dune systems persisting in plain sight among the hard concrete runways. Naturalists will take you on a casual walk to explore these relics of our natural heritage, learn about the native plants and biocrusts growing here.

You will encounter a surprise here: New York's native cactus, the eastern prickly pear in its full peak bloom at this time of year.

Floyd Bennett Field, Revealed! is a series of free events brought to you by Gateway National Recreation Area and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy as part of an initiative to activate the park as a premier destination for recreation and enjoyment of nature.
